Eyewear SKU Planning: Connect Styles, Colors and Gift-Set Variants

October 16, 2026 · JUNLIAN

A supplier’s product reference and a buyer’s internal SKU serve different purposes. Preserve both, and define how they relate. A simple mapping helps your team connect the chosen style, color or set configuration with artwork, sample decisions and packing instructions.

Preserve the Supplier Reference

Keep the original product reference visible even if your team assigns a new SKU. A buyer code alone may not identify the frame the supplier recognizes. When discussing a change, include both codes and the current revision rather than replacing one with the other.

Choose the Variant Fields You Need

A kids sunglasses assortment may distinguish style and color. A gift set may also distinguish component configuration or packaging version. Reading glasses may require a specified power field. Include only fields that represent a real ordering distinction for your project.

Keep Example Codes Clearly Illustrative

A code such as BUYER-K01-BL-A could stand for one buyer-defined style, color and configuration. It is not a JUNLIAN stock code, barcode or confirmed product specification. Document the meaning of each field so another team member can read it consistently.

Match Labels to the Approved Mapping

Connect each SKU row to the supplier reference, component list and artwork file. If you use barcode data, provide the approved data and confirm how it should appear; a naming worksheet does not assign valid retail barcode identifiers. Review the resulting proof before use.

Control New Versions

A packaging revision does not always mean the underlying product has changed, while a component substitution may create a different sellable configuration. Agree which changes require a new internal code. Retain the earlier mapping so repeat orders remain understandable.
